Responsible Hosting

Denver Hosts - a mile above the rest

Denver hosts play the most important role in the sharing economy.

Whether it's our neighbors, the local businesses who benefit from the out of state money, the small serviced based jobs that support the industry or the global progressive stature that Denver now enjoys - hosts have a responsibility.

As the industry matures Denver hosts are working to push forth a new standard that incorporates all the participants in the sharing economy because hosting isn't just representing our home - it's representing all of Denver.

Community.

Unity.

The big picture.

BEST PRACTICES TO CREATE THE BEST HOSTS IN THE BEST CITY

TRASH

Where to get more trash and recycling carts

Whether is regular trash or recyclables, if you need an additional cart call 311

(720-913-1311) to request an additional cart or for other assistance with your trash service. Upping the size to 95 gallon for both trash and recycling and/or getting a second cart is a good idea for those that rent their full residence.

PARKING

INSTRUCT GUESTS ON WHERE NOT TO PARK and WHERE TO PARK

Where to park may be common sense to Denverites however chances are our guests may not see signs or understand simple things like street sweeping days. Not only be a thoughtful host, be a thoughtful neighbor and inform your guests about the proper way and where to park.

QUESTIONABLE GUESTS

TIPS ON HOW TO PREVENT PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY HAPPEN

DON’T accept reservations from guests without a verified account including a government ID or Driver's License.

- DON’T accept reservations from local guests within 72 hours.

- DON’T let guests instant book with less than 7 days notice.

- DO Trust your gut, if a guest seems questionable, turn them down or call Airbnb to get the reservation cancelled without hurting your status.

- DO Ask for information about what a guest is coming to town for, what their ages are, etc

- DO Read guest’s review’s from prior hosts.

- DO be sure to set the your listing to no parties/events unless you are sure that your home and your neighbors are ok with parties

BEST HOST PRACTICES

- DON’T Try to fit more people than would be comfortable in your home.

A good rule of thumb is no more than 2 people per bedroom plus 1 per sleeper sofa or air mattress, no more than 6 guests per full bathroom, and no more than one person per 200sqft of home.

- DON'T hesitate to communicate plenty of information about the property and house rules to incoming guests, and DON'T hesitate to ask them for confirmation that they’ve ready the rules and information.

- DO make it easy for both guests AND neighbors to reach you or a local responsible party quickly in case of any issues
